TCOM501: Networking: Theory & Fundamentals

چکیده
Problem 1: Consider a single-server queue, with a Poisson arrival rate λ. The service times are independent identically distributed. 1. Assume that the service times of the customers follow the exponential distribution with mean 1/μ. Show that the average number of arrivals during a service time is N=λ/μ. 2. For the M/M/1 queue of part 1, find the probability distribution of the number of arrivals during a service time. 3. Assume that the service times follow a general distribution with mean 1/μ. Show that the average number of arrivals during a service time is, again, N=λ/μ.

Encapsulation theory fundamentals
This paper proposes a theory of encapsulation, establishing a relationship between encapsulation and information hiding through the concept of potential structural complexity (P.S.C.), the maximum possible number of source code dependencies that can exist between program units in a software system. The P.S.C. of various, simple systems is examined in an attempt to demonstrate how P.S.C. changes...
متن کاملCommunication in Automation, Including Networking and Wireless
An introduction to the fundamental issues and limitations of communication and networking in automation is given. Digital communication fundamentals are reviewed and networked control systems together with teleoperation are discussed. Issues in both wired and wireless networks are presented.
متن کاملIs the Internet an Unfinished Demo? Meet Rina!
The aim of this paper is to look at the deficiencies of the current Internet architecture, consider a deeper understanding on why the current architecture is failing to provide solutions and contrast the traditional beliefs on networking with new ones, coming from a network architecture based on the fundamentals. First, we briefly introduce the early history of packet-switched networking to pro...
متن کاملFundamentals of Diffusion-Based Molecular Communication in Nanonetworks
Molecular communication (MC) is a promising bio-inspired paradigm for the interconnection of autonomous nanotechnology-enabled devices, or nanomachines, into nanonetworks. MC realizes the exchange of information through the transmission, propagation, and reception of molecules, and it is proposed as a feasible solution for nanonetworks. This idea is motivated by the observation of nature, where...
متن کاملTeaching TCP/IP Networking Using Practical Laboratory Exercises
Almost any computer science, engineering, and business curriculum includes some basic courses on transmission control protocol/Internet protocol (TCI/IP) networking. Unfortunately, motivating students to learn TCP/IP network fundamentals can be difficult not only because students find the subject rather abstract when it is presented using a lecture format, but also because of very limited resou...
